Alex Essig is currently serving as the Incoming ESG Strategy & Engagement Co-op at Merck, where they are leveraging their academic background in Sustainability Management from Columbia University to advance the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. In this role, Alex is actively involved in developing and implementing strategic frameworks that align Merck’s business objectives with sustainable practices, ensuring responsible corporate governance and impactful stakeholder engagement. Their work includes conducting comprehensive sustainability reporting, analyzing ESG metrics, and supporting the integration of sustainability considerations into core business operations. Prior to this, Alex’s experience as an Analyst at Silver Leaf Partners has honed their skills in valuation, market research, and facilitating impact-driven investments, providing a solid foundation for understanding the financial implications of sustainability initiatives. Their background in due diligence and project management at AlphaSights further complements their ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes and synthesize data-driven insights. Equipped with skills in sustainability reporting, communication, and human capital management, Alex is well-positioned to support Merck’s commitment to integrating ESG principles into its corporate strategy. Their expertise in tools such as Capsule CRM, Google Analytics, and Adobe Photoshop enhances their ability to analyze and communicate sustainability data effectively, ensuring that Merck’s ESG engagement efforts are both strategic and impactful.
