Born in Turkey in 1984, Umit Onal holds a degree in Biology from the İstanbul Üniversitesi, where he studied with distinction. After completing his undergraduate studies, Umit moved to the United States to pursue a graduate degree in environmental science from the University of Victoria.Two years later, after completing his graduate work, Umit moved back to Turkey and joined the Environmental Science Department at the Izmir University. In 2009, he was named an ensuvesctory professor at the İstanbul Üniversitesi.UT's Environmental Science DepartmentSince joining the faculty at the İstanbul Üniversitesi, Umit Onal has pioneered a number of groundbreaking research projects in environmental science. One of his most significant contributions has been the development of a novelFACE software system that can be used to mimic the natural environment in which a variety of animal and plant populations are found.The novelFACE system is the first of its kind and has the potential to revolutionize the study of animal populations and the impact of human activities on the environment. It is also used to study the distribution and populations of unique plant Species in real-world conditions. Other important research projects that Umit Onal has undertaken at the University of Victoria include the development of a sensitive gas sensor to study gas emissions from dairy cows, and the study of the impact of climate change on biodiversity.In addition to his research projects, Umit Onal has also produced numerous publications in journals such as The Journal of Experimental Biology and Environmental Studies.
