Director of Agronomy at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club | Rancho Santa Fe, California, United States

About Thomas Jr

As the Director of Agronomy at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club, I am privileged to lead a dedicated team in maintaining one of California's premier golf courses. My role encompasses the comprehensive management of our golf course maintenance department, where I leverage my expertise in personnel management to hire, train, and evaluate staff effectively. This ensures that our team is not only skilled but also aligned with the club's high standards of excellence.

A significant highlight of my tenure has been overseeing the extensive golf course master plan renovation in collaboration with renowned architect David McLay Kidd. This ambitious project involved a complete overhaul of our irrigation systems, the redesign of bunkers, and the re-grassing of key areas to enhance playability and aesthetic appeal. My background in technical turfgrass management has been instrumental in executing these improvements while adhering to principles of environmental stewardship, ensuring that our practices benefit both the course and the surrounding ecosystem.

In addition to my agronomic responsibilities, I also manage the financial aspects of our operations, implementing well-planned programs that align with our budgetary goals. My experience with tournament preparation for prestigious events, including PGA Tour and USGA competitions, has further honed my ability to deliver exceptional playing conditions that meet the high expectations of our members and guests. At Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club, I am committed to fostering relationships that enhance the member experience while continually striving for excellence in every aspect of course management.
