🎓 Education

Tero Ojanperä has been studying engineering since he was a young child. Although he was unable to obtain a good degree in the quickly growing field of engineering, his passion for the subject forced him to continue his education anyways. Ojanperä pursued his education at Delft University of Technology where he studied physics and engineering principles. After completing his undergraduate studies, he spent a year working in the laboratory of a Belgian professor in Oulu, Finland. Upon his return to Helsinki, Ojanperä started his graduate studies at University of Oulu where he focused on engineering materialsesis. After completing his graduate studies, Ojanperä embarked on a three-year-long project working as a research associate at the University of Vihanti. During his research tenure at the University of Vihanti, Ojanperä developed an outpost of his current product line – a smart fabric-scanning device. This product line allows fabricators to scan the fabric surface quickly and easily to determine the layout of fabric billows and wrinkles. This technology will likely revolutionize the fabric manufacturing process, making it easier and more accurate to produce high-quality fabric products.

Since he joined the company at age 18, Ojanperä has had a lasting impact on OP Financial Group’s developments and operations. He has been Chairman of the Board since August 2017 and since March 2019, he is also the CEO. Tero has a long and successful track record as a senior technical leader and has been responsible for significant innovations and expansions at OP Financial Group, such as the launch of an intelligent platform (Silo) or the merger of two struggling companies (Fintraffic and betolar).
