About Shahon Marshall

Shahon Marshall is currently making significant strides as a dedicated volunteer at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, where they leverage their recent Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from New York University to advocate for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. With a robust foundation of four years of hands-on experience in this critical field, Shahon has honed their expertise in trauma-informed care, particularly focusing on adolescents. Their commitment to preventing intimate partner violence is reflected in their active participation in a comprehensive 40-hour training program designed to equip volunteers with the skills necessary to respond effectively to victims in emergency room settings.

In their role, Shahon serves as a vital support system for survivors, offering compassionate advocacy and guidance during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. By assisting survivors in navigating the healthcare system and connecting them with essential resources, Shahon plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of safety and empowerment. Their ability to communicate effectively and provide emotional support is complemented by strong organizational skills, allowing them to manage on-call responsibilities with professionalism and care.

Shahon's expertise extends beyond direct advocacy; they are also committed to raising awareness and educating peers about the complexities of domestic violence. Their proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms enables them to create informative materials that enhance community outreach efforts. As a leader in their volunteer capacity, Shahon is dedicated to driving change and improving outcomes for vulnerable populations, making them an invaluable asset to the Mount Sinai Beth Israel team.
