From August 2011 to February 2018 (6 years 7 months) Parsippany, NJSenior Director, Specialty Markets @ Schering-Plough Established and built new business unit within U.S. Managed Markets focused on specialty market segments, including specialty pharmacies, distributors, GPOs, and PBMs. Led team of five National Account Managers responsible for distribution, contracting, reimbursement and access strategies for company’s entire specialty portfolio (Oncology, Virology, Contraceptives and Fertility). Managed approximately $800 million in sales across specialty segments. • Developed best in class distribution solution for implantable product with unique risk management requirements. Program delivered on time and $1 - $2 million under budget. • Negotiated new contract for one of fastest growing segments of contraceptive franchise. Simplified distribution process and generated incremental $2 million profit (approx. 5% of total sales). • Redesigned specialty pharmacy contracting strategy for injectable biologic. Reduced base discount by 33% (100 bps) while substantially increasing customer performance requirements. • Renegotiated contract for customer segment representing 40% of total franchise, generating savings of approximately $2.5 million per year. • Developed and launched -- in two-month period -- novel pricing program for injectable product; seamlessly migrated 1,200 direct accounts to distributor with no loss in volume. From April 2008 to January 2010 (1 year 10 months) Senior Director, Government Reimbursement and Medicare Part D @ Schering-Plough Selected to build and lead new business unit within U.S. Managed Markets responsible for company’s strategy, positioning, and contractual relationships in Medicare segment. Developed and implemented strategies regarding Quality and Health Technology Assessment. • Improved Company’s ranking in annual HIRC Medicare survey from #10 (tie) to #2. • Developed and/or led multiple customer programs that drove account integration for National and Regional Account teams, including Executive Roundtable with former CMS Administrator. • Developed and oversaw new Quality function; achieved “insider status” within Pharmacy Quality Alliance. • Led or co-led efforts to redesign processes for managing HTA reviews to increase business input and ensure greater alignment with overall brand and payer strategies. • Co-developed and drove external group of global thought leaders focused on value-based reimbursement and evidence-based decision making in healthcare. From July 2006 to March 2008 (1 year 9 months) Senior Legal Director @ Schering-Plough Recruited by former Pharmacia senior management team as part of rebuilding Law Department and to drive major strategic initiatives. Acted as both lead negotiator and chief legal counsel for several significant Corporate Development transactions designed to improve company’s pipeline. • Structured and negotiated primary care alliance with Bayer; acquired several marketed products adding additional $500 million annual net sales. From January 2004 to June 2006 (2 years 6 months) Associate General Counsel @ Pharmacia Recruited by former RPR General Counsel to serve as lead transactional counsel. Responsible for full range of international Corporate Development activities, including licensing, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, and product divestitures. Counseled management regarding general securities law compliance and disclosure issues. • Structured and negotiated three separate product divestitures to obtain Federal Trade Commission and European Commission clearance for the Pfizer-Pharmacia merger. • Structured and negotiated multiple product acquisitions across variety of deal settings. Successfully won both high profile auctions in which company elected to compete. • Received multiple awards for roles in various projects, including restricted stock award. From January 2000 to December 2003 (4 years) Assistant General Counsel @ Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Served in variety of legal roles with increasing responsibility in both transactional and operating business units, including lead corporate transactional counsel, lead R&D counsel, and lead counsel for multiple therapeutic franchises (Allergy, Women’s and Children’s Health, and Cardiovascular). Participated in development and implementation of two product launches and company’s first television DTC campaign.
