About Ray Jan
💼 Past Experience
At Qualcomm, Ray Jan is responsible for developing fixed point audio DSP algorithms and serving as the POC for all common C libraries for all audio and voice DSP features. He is also skilled in designing, simulated and implementing DSP C libraries for multistage IIR equalizer, multirate FIR and IIR, IIR LPF and HPF, dynamic range control(DRC) and multiband DRC for audio applications. Ray Jan has a great deal of experience in both designing andsimulating systemsreference models to support bit-exact digital verification. He also has experience in developing digital DDC/RRH validation and regression testing. In addition, he is also responsible for design, development and simulation of key functional blocks such as multirate filters via polyphase implementation, shaping filters, CIC and droop compensation filters, and driving roadmaps which led to significant increase in market share for Qualcomm. In 2010, Ray Jan was hired as a Senior Engineer at Microelectronics Technology Inc. where he was responsible for driving the system architecture, design and simulation of new digital down converter(DDC) frontend in digital radio receiver used in remote radio heads(RRH), and maintaining existing DDC frontend designs. He was also responsible for collaborating with FW/SW engineers in DDC/RRH validation and regression testing. In 2009, Ray Jan was hired as a Design Engineer at Western Digital Corp. and he served as the lead for all production 2.5 inch mobile hard drives performance validation under vibration, shock and thermal stress conditions. He was also responsible for designing notch filters to address undesired harmonics, devised FW algorithms to address external shock conditions, and developed automated tools to crunch and analyze measurement data.Since taking on this position, Ray Jan has had a great deal of practical experience in helping to drive the development of digital down converters and key product features for Qualcomm. He has also competed in many regression and design tests to help drive the product development and critical components to meet theadal meets the customer's needs. In addition to this, he is also skilled in collaborating with Verilog engineers to implement and verify DDC functional blocks on Altera Stratix III/IV FPGAs, and with SW and RF engineers to test RRH and DSP chips and troubleshoot issues relating to integration, upgrade and regression tests in a lab environment.
