Randy Roberts is a seasoned Principal Software Engineer at FLIR Systems, Inc., leveraging over 20 years of experience in embedded system software architecture and implementation. His expertise lies in multi-core vector processing architectures, particularly SIMD, where he excels in low-level debugging and high-speed, low-latency data movement. Currently, Randy serves as the Embedded Camera Core Infrastructure Software Architect, reporting directly to the CTO in Santa Barbara. In this pivotal role, he is instrumental in evaluating and integrating cutting-edge System on Chips (SoCs), such as the Movidius Myriad2, tailored to meet the specific needs of FLIR's innovative imaging solutions.

Randy's responsibilities extend beyond evaluation; he was the sole software engineer assigned to the project during its inception, tasked with providing proof of concept and driving the software architecture forward. His extensive experience in implementing, optimizing, and troubleshooting real-time AI and CNN-based applications for "inference at the edge" on ARM Cortex multi-core systems showcases his ability to navigate complex challenges in embedded systems. His proficiency in multi-threaded design and implementation, combined with a deep understanding of performance management and digital video processing, positions him as a key contributor to FLIR's mission of delivering advanced imaging technologies.

Randy's technical toolkit includes a robust command of OpenCV, OpenMP, and Embedded Linux, alongside a solid foundation in the Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) and C programming.
