I am currently participating in the Insight Data Science Fellowship in New York City, and upon completion in August, I will be actively seeking full-time data scientist positions. My goals include applying robust analytics techniques to challenging real-world problems and impacting business strategies via actionable insights and data products. Skills: • Solid background in probability and statistics. Experience in experiment design and analysis (hypothesis testing). • Predictive modeling via various machine learning techniques (multivariate linear regression, lasso, naïve bayes, logistic regression, random forests, gradient boosted trees, neural networks, support vector machines). • Solid understanding of relational algebra. Experience in writing and interpreting complex SQL queries using open source relational databases (MySQL). • Mining and building predictive models on large sets of complex, high-dimensional and noisy real-world data. • Good understanding of computer science fundamentals (e.g. algorithms, data structures). Languages: Fluent in Python, SQL and MATLAB. Proficient in R and C++. Tools: MySQL, Pandas, SciPy, Scikit-learn, IPython notebook, Unix shell, Hadoop Streaming, Git, NLTK, Flask, AWS. The features used in downstream analysis and modeling were engineered after cleaning and processing the data in Pandas data frames. • Applied various machine learning techniques (e.g. ElasticNet, Logistic Regression, Random Forest) to predict defaults (recall=0.71 precision=0.78 on validation set) and loss from defaults (predicted R-squared = 0.70). The model yielded an average error (over 4 countries) of only 2.3% in total loss prediction, which is the ultimate point estimate to be used in flat fee determination. • Created an interactive front end using Flask and Twitter Bootstrap and deployed it on Amazon Web Services.
