This new role to Heathrow is principally charged with building a strong strategy for the airport, driving new efficiencies within the cargo environment and becoming Heathrow’s voice on the industry.
Heathrow is the UK’s biggest port for exports, handling over a quarter of British exports by value. Cargo is vitally important to our airlines, business partners and UK trade. As Heathrow is at capacity, this role needs to ensure processes are as efficient as possible and requires working with the cargo community to develop innovative cargo solutions that allow Heathrow to close the gap versus European comparators as much as possible within the current environment.

Head of Ground Handling
Accountable for compliance with the UK's Airport (Groundhandling) Regulations 1997 and improving the ground handling environment at Heathrow. With limited airside space at Heathrow, I led the team that pro-actively managed the 400+ licensees, 16000 pieces of GSE, 8500 vehicles and 25000 drivers to ensure Licencees were able to deliver their contracted services, the airport operated to plan, congestion was avoided and everyone had a safe place to work.
I provided leadership for the fuel strategy to be employed at Heathrow and acted as the key point of contact with the oil industry and HM Government.
I was also responsible for engagement with the Heathrow Cargo Community and airlines on the preparatory work for a cargo strategy at Heathrow. From January 2012 to Present (4 years) Chairman (Non Executive) @ Joined the board in 2008 and elected Chairman in 2010 overseeing the operation of a vendor neutral bonded airport transit shed that facilitated the movement of express courier shipments between courier companies landside and commercial airlines airside. From January 2008 to January 2012 (4 years 1 month) Senior Manager (Operations) @ Solely responsible for the busy Heathrow Gateway operating 7 days/week with 70+ staff working in 4 functional areas to connect 400+ commercial flights a week & 30+ countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and APAC with the FedEx direct served network. From August 2007 to January 2012 (4 years 6 months) Chairman - Executive Committee @ Joined as Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee then assumed role of Chairman in July 2010 for fixed 12-month term. AICES is the industry body for the UK express courier industry. From July 2009 to June 2011 (2 years) Senior Consultant @ Staffing solutions specialist to MOD & Defence Industry. Contract, temporary and full-time placements to key areas within MOD and blue-chip Defence manufacturers/suppliers. From 2005 to 2007 (2 years) Military Pilot @ Maritime & transport Pilot.
