💼 Past Experience

In my teaching experience, I have been able to use my teaching abilities as an impetus to ignite students' interest in computer science and mathematics. My goal has been to show the students how computer science allows for the impossible - to take complex concepts and make them easy to understand for the average reader. My favorite part of my job is seeing students' faces light up when they finally understand the concepts behind the hard work they have put in. Aside from my teaching experience, I have also been a research assistant for Calculus I, Calculus II and Linear Algebra/Differential Equations, and have also supervised graduate students in both computer science and mathematics. Teaching Assistant at University of Colorado at Boulder from 2007 to 2008 (1 year). Taught/led recitation and graded homework/exams for Calculus I, Calculus II and Linear Algebra/Differential Equations. Graded homeworks for Operations Research, Numerical Analysis.

🎓 Education

Nathan Halko's educational background is in applied mathematics and scientific computing, two of the most essential areas of mathematics and technology that drive the future of computing. Nathan earned hisPh.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2007 and his B.S. in Mathematical Sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2005.Since his undergraduate education, Nathan has been engaged in research and development in various high-tech fields. He has worked on a variety of software programs and had a stall in the T pavilion at the IFA in Berlin, Germany in 2006. Additionally, Nathan has twice won the prestigious Sacks Award for Best Paper at the International Conference on Scientific Computing, ICSC 2006 and 2008.In his free time, Nathan enjoys reading, playing video games and spending time with his family and friends.

💡 Technical & Interpersonal Skills

Nathan has a degree in Mathematics from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a long list of technical experience in data analysis, programming, and graph theory. Most recently, Nathan was a lead software engineer and research assistant at Salesforce in Boulder, CO.Prior to that, Nathan was a teaching assistant at the University of Colorado at Boulder and worked on recitation and graded homework/exams for Calculus I, Calculus II and Linear Algebra/Differential Equations. Nathan is also a Memoist. Nathan has authored two papers on fast randomized algorithms and matrix theory.
