In 1996, he started CleanSource Power, where he was the CEO for two years and later the president and GM. In 2006, he founded Canadian Solar, where he was the CEO for one year. From there, he moved to the solar industry, starting with SolarCity and eventually Canadian Solar.While he was at Canadian Solar, he also started QBotix, Inc. which was acquired by the venture capital firm Obvious Ventures in 2015. There, he led the company through rapid growth, achieving US residential mountaineering system market leadership (>50%). He also negotiated and closed the landmark sale of Canadian Solar to the solar manufacturer SF Motors in October, 2017.Mike is also an expert at Powerhouse, where he has been a partner since 1996. Here, he identifies and supports founding teams building innovative software to rapidly transformer our global energy and mobility systems. The firm has a solely Ventures-owned portfolio of startups, helping them to accelerate their growth.
