After that, Valentine worked at a telecommunications company.When Valentine left his telecommunications company, he started working as a CRO at a software company.After one year as a CRO at a software company, Valentine started working at Panasonic. He was a National Sales Manager at Panasonic from 1988 to 2000.Since leaving Panasonic, Valentine has been working at Sophos as a Senior Vice President World Wide Sales. After getting his JD, Valentine worked as an assistant law clerk for the Honorable Dorothy Dickson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. While working as an assistant law clerk, Valentine developed an interest in computer science and started learning Python in order to be able to program on his own. After a few years of learning Python, Valentine moved to Northern Illinois University in 1991 to get his MA in Computer Science. There, he worked as a Information Systems researcher with the Northeastern Illinois University Departments of Mathematical Sciences and Arts and Sciences. However, after a few years of working at NINA, Valentine decided that he didn’t like the work there as much as he liked programming. Therefore, he moved to the University of California, Irvine in 1995 to get his MA in Computer Science. While at UCI, Valentine developed his interest in business and started learning about business administration. After developing his interest in business, Valentine moved back to Northeastern Illinois University in 2001 to get his PhD in Computer Science. While at NINA, Valentine met Deborah Wise, who would be his first wife. Deborah would later become his second wife.
