Megan Bailey serves as the Lead Coating Chemist in Fire Safety at Hexion Inc., where she leverages her extensive 20 years of experience in the coatings industry to innovate and enhance fire retardant solutions. With a robust background spanning pharmaceutical, architectural, and industrial coatings, Megan specializes in the development of intumescent coatings designed to protect critical utilities during wildland fires. Her role involves the entire spectrum of new product development, from initial formulation to commercialization, ensuring that each product meets stringent safety and performance standards while optimizing manufacturing processes and raw material usage.

Megan's academic foundation, with a Master’s degree in Polymer and Coatings Science from DePaul University, complements her practical expertise in research and development (R&D). Her proficiency in advanced analytical techniques such as Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), UV/Vis Spectroscopy, and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) enables her to troubleshoot complex formulation challenges and drive innovation in fire safety coatings. Additionally, her experience with Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) allows her to assess the thermal stability and molecular weight distribution of polymers, ensuring optimal performance in high-stress environments.
