Matthew Keough has a degree in American Studies from the University of Buffalo. From 1997 to 1999, he was the director of training, communication and professional development at Strand, a nonprofit aerospace company in Malaysia. In this role, he developed and managed training programs for company employees, designed and implemented training programs for internal and external customers, and conducted research on substance abuse and employee retention. He also worked with the Malaysian government to develop standards for training and development across the country. In 2006, he was the first American Studies lecturer at Stamford College, a private Liberal Arts college in England. From 2001 to 2006, he was the head of American Programme at HELP Institute, a nonprofit research and development institute in Kuala Lumpur. From 1993 to 1999, he was a lecturer at the University of Buffalo,where he taught American Studies.
