💼 Past Experience

I started at dezeen in March 2008. I worked as a freelance editor on Icon magazine, where I produced andKEVIN LEWIS, Will Self and others. In 2003, I gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Periodical Journalism from the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). My professional experience includes 2 years as an Owner at www.dezeenjobs.com, where I produced and edited content for the website. I then worked for two years as an Editor at Icon magazine, which was a national magazine for young adults. In February 2003, I hosted and produced the first ever video diary video for the website.

Marcus Fairs's education has included studying at University of the Arts London where he has completed a degree in Fine Arts. He then studied at University of Wolverhampton where he also completed a degree in Fine Arts. After completing his studies, Marcus Fairs moved on to work in the arts as a Graphic and Decorative Artist. However, his work experience has not only limited to this field, but also in various other industries too. Marcus Fairs is currently a graphic andDecorative Artist with his work being exhibited domestically and internationally.

He was also the editor at an unknown small journal for six months in 2003.At dezeen.com, Marcus is the owner and editor-in-chief of the website. He has been with dezeen.com for three years, previously working as the head of editorial products. He also has experience as the owner and editor-in-chief at www.dezeenjobs.com, publisher of the online job board.Before his appointment as Editor-in-Chief of the website, Marcus was the head of design and created website feature images for the company. He has also worked as a graphic designer at a marketing agency.Marcus has a crew of 20-30 of workers who create all the website content, from articles to blogs. He is very hands-on with the work, always monitoring progress and approving any changes that need to be made.He is an excellent leader and opinionated, always looking to put the best possible spin on any story. And he has a good sense of humour!From his personal point of view, Marcus enjoys spending time with his family and friends and travelling.
