Manmohan Rawat was born on January 30, 1969, in Delhi, India. He started his schooling at Prince of Wales public school, Ludhiana before leaving in January 1990 to study Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) at Southbank of Institute of Technology Australia. After completing his studies at Southbank of Institute of Technology Australia, he landed his first aircraft maintenance job at Delhi Flying Club from January 1995 to January 1996. After completing his first job at Delhi Flying Club, he was transferred to Automobile Engineering Business and Engineering Consulting at the Delhi Institute of Automobile from January 1990 to January 1991. After completing his work with the Delhi Institute of Automobile, Manmohan Rawat moved to Melbourne, Australia in January 1992 and started his first company, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME) at Adelaide School of Automatic Technology. In November 1997, Manmohan Rawat was appointed as the Managing Director of the Delhi-based outsourcing and Consultants firm, Infosys Ltd. He continued to hold this post until March 2001. In March 2001, he was transferred to Royal Dutch Shell Petroleum Co. Ltd. as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) offices in Geneva, Switzerland. Pure Resources plc., a London-based oil and gas company, had assigned him to lead its India operation. During his incumbency, he increased the profits of Pure Resources plc. by more than 50%. Nine months after his arrival, on July 15, 2001, he was sacked from his position as COO at Royal Dutch Shell Petroleum Co. Ltd. due to the failure of the India operations. The unsuccessful venture resulted in a loss of more than $1 billion. After his dismissal from Royal Dutch Shell Petroleum Co. Ltd., Manmohan Rawat returned to India and started his own consulting and outsourcing firm, Infosys Ltd. In early 2002, he was appointed Chairman and Managing Director of Infosys Ltd. It was during his tenure as Chairman and Managing Director of Infosys Ltd. that Infosys implemented the System Center Enterprise architecture in its primaryframes business. This event led to Infosys rapid growth in customers and sensors business. After almost two years with Infosys Ltd. as Chairman and a Managing Director, he was sacked from his position and joined Lakshmi Mittal’s India-focused conglomerate, Reliance Industries Ltd., on November 9, 2002.
