- Bittorrent acceleration of data transfers to newly instantiated VMs. Reduced the time it takes to load large data sets in big data VMs on demand. Tested on thousands of VMs and with hundreds of TBs.

- Neural network processing on a mid-sized cluster of Spark nodes. Detection of anomalies in graphs applied to terrorism and fraud detection.
- Neural network based Graph anonymisation for dynamic graphs.

- Unsupervised ML techniques applied to unveil unknown adverse effects in triplets of drugs (trillions of triplets are possible). Matched FDA reports of adverse effects in a probabilistic manner (Naive Bayes) and used top ranked triplets to find similarities in their 3D structure that could cause the adverse effect.

Acted as a hub facilitating relationships between academics and several SMEs. From February 2012 to January 2015 (3 years) Research Engineer @ InNetDC: product manager, developer and tester of a prototype for optimising bulk data transfers across WANs by locating portable datacentres in the core network. The prototype involved large scale emulation of ISP backbones and real cloud infrastructure to create transient data stores in privileged network locations (optimised à la Akamai "middle mile"). We reduced transfer times in up to a 70% reducing network traffic at the edge.
Data analytics (using Hadoop). These were applied to deal with biological data (chaos theory simulations) and small (educational social interactions) and large scale (30% of the World's tweet were analysed) social analysis.
Technical participation in two EU-cofunded research projects (creation of a pan-European experimental cloud) and spanning the cloud concept to WAN (datacenter federation).
