📖 Summary
I am a health professional who is committed and passionate about the rehabilitation industry. Having worked for private rehabilitation companies, Employers and in community and insurance settings, I have a well rounded and holistic approach to case management and return to work. I currently work as a Medical Case Manager with Argent Rehabilitation. This involves the assessment of clients physical and psychological needs through conducting Immediate Needs Assessments and Vocational Assessments with clients and developing effective rehabilitation plans. I have been working in the Workers Compensation, Injury Management and rehabilitation industry since 2007 following completion of a Bachelor of Health Science (Rehabilitation Counselling) degree at the University of Sydney. Once I graduated, I was employed with Konekt, a private rehabilitation company, as a Rehabilitation Consultant, progressing to a Team Leader role throughout my time there. I was responsible for the supervision and management of a team of health professionals and managed a case load of complex clients. Following this, I was employed as an Injury Management Advisor with the NSW Police Force where I was responsible for a case load of injured Police Officers, with the aim of returning them to full capacity within their pre-injury duties. This involved extensive liaison with the Officers, Employers and various health professionals. I moved to London in 2013 and am now employed as a Medical and Vocational Case Manager with Argent Rehabilitation.Deputy Team Leader/Medical Case Manager @ * Conducting Immediate Needs Assessments with clients face-to-face in their homes * Assessment of clients physical and psychological needs * Identifications of potential barriers to the rehabilitation and return to work process * Development of effective rehabilitation plans * Communication with clients, medical health professionals, Solicitors, Insurance Companies, employers and other stakeholders involved in the process * Vocational Rehabilitation – completing vocational assessments for clients unable to return to their previous employment and identification of appropriate vocational goals * Facilitating an intensive Job Seeking Program with clients * Coordination of treatment * Review and monitor costs of cases * Meeting monthly billing targets of 6.5 hours per day From October 2013 to Present (2 years 2 months) Injury Management Advisor @ * Case management of injured employees of NSW Police Force * Liaison with variety of stakeholders to establish direction and work towards Return to Work outcomes * Running of monthly Injury Management Panels to update Commands * Attendance at Nominated Treating Doctor Case Conferences * Regular communication with all stakeholders * Maintaining effective case notes and statistics * Completion of rehabilitation reports for process of medical discharge * Providing education on Injury Management according to the Workplace Injury Management and Workers Compensation Act 1998 From January 2010 to June 2013 (3 years 6 months) Rehabilitation Consultant/Team Leader @ * Supervision and management of a team of consultants * Running weekly meetings and one-on-one reviews with team members * Providing technical support for colleagues on workers compensation legislation and rehabilitation services * Managing a case-load of clients on Workers Compensation and non-Workers Compensation * Conducting a range of assessments, including Vocational and Section 40 Assessments and completion of these reports * Providing assistance with job seeking, resume building and interview skills workshops * Forecasting weekly budgets and providing statistical reports for staff * Assisting with mentoring and supervision of staff and students * Completion of monthly audits of files * Liaising with a range of customers and clients * Conducting business development activities * Maintaining effective time management From 2007 to 2010 (3 years) RTW Coordinator Training From 2010 to 2010 Mediation and Conflict Resolution, Level 1 & 2 @ Fighting Fair From 2010 to 2010 Bachelor of Health Sciences – Rehabilitation Counselling @ University of Sydney From 2004 to 2007 Laura Heasman is skilled in: Workers Compensation, Case Managment, Personal Injury, Leadership, Management, Rehabilitation, Training, Resume Writing, Business Development, Business Process..., Case Management, Counseling Psychology
