Utilized a client-side stack of Backbone.js, RequireJS, and other modern libraries; also modified Ruby on Rails controllers and views to work with the new stack. Key parts of the site such as the sign-up, log-in, and post details page have been converted to this new. -Developed a customizable and embeddable SoundTracking widget which unobtrusively does an asynchronous download of an external javascript file to inject the widget iframe onto a user’s site. -Wrote and released the Spotify version of the app, utilizing the Spotify API, Backbone.js, RequireJS, jQuery, and Underscore.js. -Extended Backbone.js base classes to allow automatic subview destruction and global event dispatcher unbinding. -Designed registry to allow sharing of models between collections so that data remains consistent across views. From September 2012 to July 2013 (11 months) San Francisco Bay AreaSoftware Engineer @ -Developed client-side code for new features and improvements to existing ones on Yammer’s site using Javascript, HTML/CSS, and Ruby on Rails. -Investigated and repaired high priority issues across the entire site by gaining and utilizing an in-depth and breadth of knowledge of both the server-side Ruby on Rails codebase and the client-side Javascript codebase. -Coordinated between various engineering teams to ensure that code preparation for releases goes smoothly. From November 2010 to September 2012 (1 year 11 months) San Francisco Bay AreaSoftware Engineer @ -Developed client-side and server-side code for numerous social games, reaching an audience of tens-of-millions across several networks. One game had over 7 million monthly unique users on Facebook alone; another is a Top 10 application on MySpace. -Engineered key game-play features and viral flows using Javascript, PHP, and Actionscript 3. -Lead engineer of a team that created one of the earliest cross-network major social games. Managed the team and simultaneously coordinated development and code releases across all platforms successfully. -Contributed to the game framework code that is utilized through all of RockYou’s games, such as a system that allows seamless integration of data on a single code-base across OpenSocial, Facebook, and other APIs. -Designed an authenticated login system to allow application users to redirect from the social networking sites to an external domain. From February 2008 to October 2010 (2 years 9 months) San Francisco Bay AreaSoftware Engineer @ -Programmed new functionality in C++ for software used by a major satellite television provider to generate satellite streams. Added support for on-demand video service in the software. Also updated source code with short turn-around time to meet changes to satellite broadcast requirements. -Developed web-based, multi-browser UI using AJAX, PHP, and HTML that calls a SOAP interface to collect and display real-time video and audio stream multiplex data returned from the hardware level. -Designed test cases and wrote corresponding Bash shell scripts to automate testing of program guides, parental controls, program search, and other functionality in set-top boxes. -Generated satellite and ATSC streams containing various objects, applications, and conditional access settings used to test that set-top box software functions correctly and abides by specified requirements. -Compiled API documentation for set-top box middleware by analyzing Java source code. Guide service source code includes functions for critical functionality such as parental control and program searching. From May 2006 to December 2007 (1 year 8 months) Greater San Diego AreaSoftware Engineer Intern @ -Coded new features in C++ for SARvision chemical analysis software (www.chemapps.com) used by major pharmaceutical companies worldwide. Examples of features added include loading and saving of binary molecular data, various spreadsheet and data table functionality, and UI dialogs. -Ported Windows version of SARvision to Linux, and developed main entry function for Linux build with command-line interface to facilitate script-based execution. -Tested software using sets of scientific data containing several hundred thousand molecules to check for accuracy and performance of analysis software. Also created sets of functions that interfaced with back-end code to mimic user actions for testing purposes.
