📖 Summary
Software Development Engineer @ Amazon Santa Monica, CaliforniaSoftware Engineer @ Conversant Worked within the ad rendering team to develop tools to make debugging production incidents easier. These tools included a production replication environment, which allowed users to be register for a campaign and render ads given a specific user ID. Other tools included auto reporting and emailing. Along with building tools for the team to use internally, I also worked with engineers to reengineer the AdChoices opt-out page. From September 2018 to October 2019 (1 year 2 months) Greater Chicago AreaAssociate Software Engineer @ Conversant Designed and implemented the front end for the engineering department's internal, monitoring website. This was written using React JS and incorporated an interactive grid layout, so users could minimize and rearrange each application's server set to their need. The site is widely used throughout engineering to identify problems with production servers and is displayed on the monitors around the office. This new website allows for easy visibility on the states of the production servers. The easy user interface allows for users to click on a server to retrieve hardware information, such as disk space, server ID and more. I collaborated with other members of my team who implemented the backend. Other programming included rewriting the production release software. This was written in Python and incorporated multiprocessing, smart alerting and stats collection. This was a collaborative effort to upgrade the script from Bash to Python and make improvements to catch errors before the software was fully release into production. In addition to software development, I also managed a summer intern. This consisted of holding weekly 1:1s, code reviews and incorporating the individual into the industry. To help manage the work, I created backlog tickets to maintain a steady workflow throughout the internship. From March 2017 to September 2018 (1 year 7 months) Greater Chicago AreaSoftware Engineer Internship @ Target Assisted the Direct Guest Fulfillment Team in automating and analyzing software tests against the Manhattan software, which runs the fulfillment centers. Utilized tools, such as Selenium, Cucumber, Jenkins and Java to automate test cases and improved testing efficiency. With automated testing, tests could be run without the need for much user interaction, allowing more time for programmers to work on other projects. Improved testing analysis by outputting the expected test results as true or false in the Cucumber file. Previously, the results would output all results as false if one event failed. After the change, the results displayed false for only the event or events that caused the test to fail and display the successful tests as true. This allows programmers to quickly identify the area of which the test is failing. From June 2016 to August 2016 (3 months) Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaMathematics Tutor @ University of Wisconsin-Madison Tutored mathematics for the University of Wisconsin-Madison's PEOPLE Program. The PEOPLE Program is a unique opportunity for children of the Madison area to have the chance to receive a full scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Starting in the seventh grade, students must fulfill a given amount of hours a week at tutoring, and maintain a high GPA. Students must complete the program from seventh grade to the end of high school, and be accepted into the University to acquire the scholarship. Not only do they devote hours of their time during the school year, but must also complete a three to five week summer program every year. Students cannot be absent for more than three days during the summer, or they will be removed from the program. The employees of the PEOPLE Program dedicate their efforts to see the students excel in their education. My responsibilities as a tutor involve facilitating student enrichment activities, engaging critical thinking, and making connections between subjects and real life scenarios.I also worked one summer program, which entailed escorting the students to their classes on campus, encouraging participation in activities, and maintaining discipline. From September 2013 to May 2015 (1 year 9 months) Madison, WIAssociate Software Developer @ Sentry Insurance Collaborated with a group of interns from different Sentry locations to research an emerging insurance trend and come up with an action plan to address the subject. Specifically researched driverless cars and drones, which will have high impacts on insurance companies. Presented our business plan to a panel of executives and won second place in the overall case competition. Assisted in the development of the ATLAS project, which is Sentry's new agent portal website. Developed a button, which exports commission data onto an Excel spreadsheet. Sent information from the database to be placed onto a spreadsheet, using the Apache POI API to format the cells. Created a database table to track edits made to agent commissions. This table tracked the original commission before the edit and the new commission, which was created when the user made an edit, the date the edit was made, the type of edit made, and the user identification.
