📖 Summary
Software Engineering Intern @ American Airlines Developed a system that tracks and stores on Android devices any mobile service requests from the application that are made to a remote company server before being sent to GCM. Primarily made use of XML, Java, and SQL.I learned how to use Google Cloud Messaging services and was introduced to Google's Cloud infrastructure and deployment procedures.- Logged, tracked, and notified QA team in real-time.- Significantly reduced time spent tracking detecting bugs. From March 2014 to September 2014 (7 months) Fort Worth, TexasTechnical Officer @ Market Built a proof of concept for a buying and selling mobile application. Independently developed an iOS, Android, and Web application. Developed the minimum value product using ASP.Net Core, Entity Framework, SQL, MongoDB, Flutter, and deployed to Microsoft Azure.Market is a platform that helps entrepreneurs in the handmade and secondhand goods sector meet with their clients in a safe and convenient way. Our platform makes it easy for sellers to collaborate with buyers by automating a meeting location by selecting halfway-points with high foot traffic local to both parties. This meet-up functionality allows users to automate their deal closing process and keep the market up to date. Our mission is to remove the barriers that separate individual, brick and mortar, and online retail experiences so that every entity has an opportunity to participate in a free market. Dallas, TexasSolutions Architect @ Smart.Market for Business Role Responsibilities My role is to gather business requirements from stakeholders, define technical requirements that satisfy those business needs, and lead the design of a system architecture for consumer-facing coupon redemption applications. These business needs range from developing new techniques to track user engagement based on coupon use and exposure, to implementing distributed and cloud-based solutions to remove the strain on legacy systems. I worked with and drove development with two teams with separate stakeholders, but a similar mission. Accomplishments- Applied gameification to the coupon redemption system by implementing a Rewards System to encourage users to get acclimated to utilizing digital coupon redemption in addition to physical coupon redemption mechanisms. - Defined and introduced a suite of user engagement metrics that captured several thousand of user-to-user interactions, user-to-community interactions, and user-to-coupon interactions. - Invented and implemented coupon redemption mechanisms (QR Code, Geo-located Coupons, Dynamically Generated Coupons) for over 1000 unique offers.- Designed and implemented a ranking system that dynamically adjusted a popularity and decay function that determined the frequency at which users were exposed to particular coupons without reducing advertiser engagement. From July 2017 to June 2018 (1 year) RemoteSoftware Developer @ RoviSys Role Responsibilities I provide technology decisions, data management, availability, and security and user interface design. In addition to writing functional design specifications and driving the primary development of the application, I perform project execution by scoping project demands and assigning tasks.Projects typically include custom web applications with C# backends and Javascript/Angular frontends. Storage options are relational or non-relational, and integration with the PI data historian is typical. I have experience designing system specifications, executing the project based on those specifications, revising specifications directly with a client, and implementing the entire solution from the ground up.Accomplishments- Developed a tank inventory system that automated the entire inventory process and is correct within twenty barrels over 150,000+ barrels a day.- Reduced operating costs in Arkansas and Texas by several thousand dollars. This inventory system freed up human resources and reduced losses from clerical mistakes by complete automation of inventory audits.- Effectively halved the required man-hours to dedicated to SQC at the largest oil refinery on the West Coast by dynamically determining whether or not gasoline blends maintained sufficient composition to pass California Air Resource Board requirements.- Increased SQC speed by nearly 300-400% by modernizing the software analytics stack for six different gasoline analyzers.- Staffed to nearly 15% of the entire office's revenue for the year, returned a 55% profit margin, and was offered a 300% increase in our corporate bill rate due to customer satisfaction. From June 2016 to August 2017 (1 year 3 months) Houston, Texas AreaMachine Learning REU @ Texas A&M University I design applications that interact with, integrate with, and analyze social media. Most notably, I created an application that fetched Tweets in real time (using the Firehose API, deprecated) and generated a heat map that showed tweets regarding sickness propogation over a Google Map. I gained experience maintaining and configuring NoSQL style databases and spent most of my development in Python. I have brief experience using Hadoop on low node clusters and smaller sized data, particularly with a distributed computing system composed of Raspberry PIs.
