Jose Zavala was born in the city of Mexico City, Mexico on October 6, 1969. Zavala’s parents are Juan and Gloria Zavala. He attended high school in the city of Mexico City before attending the Universidad de la Republica de Mexico. He then decided to move to Los Angeles, California in 1995 to pursue his dream of being a journalist. Zavala began his career as an associate editor at the weekly Mexican paper, La Jornada.
