buscema was born in 1951 in the town of Milan, Italy. Buscema moved to the United States at the age of sixteen and started paying taxes in California. He eventually got a job as a fill-in criminal investigator for the sheriff of Hawthorne, California. Buscema met his future wife, Karen, while he was working as a criminal investigator. They got married in 1978, and bought a house in Hawthorne. They moved to Las Vegas in 1990, and started their own company, In 2004, Buscema became a candidate for the Las Vegas City Council. He was re-elected in 2006,2008, and 2012. In 2014, he was elected Chairman of theboard of directors of S.A.F.E. Structure DesignsIndustry of Aviation & Aerospace, a company he started in 1990. After his election as Chairman, Buscema started working on the new company's plan to expand. He also hired a new CEO, and in April 2016, he left the company to become a full-time candidate for the Nevada City Council.

Johnny Buscema started his college education at the University of Florida in 1995. After unsuccessful attempts at several other schools, he finally pulled through and received his undergraduate degree in Sociology in 2002.Buscema then went on to receive his Master's degree in Education from the same school in 2006. This has been evident in his past actions, such as working as an intern at a high-finance firm, or becoming a corporate compliance officer.
