John Ryder

John Ryder currently serves as the Director of Student Affairs & Military Services at Rowan College of South Jersey, where he leverages his extensive background in law enforcement and military service to foster a supportive and safe educational environment for all students, particularly those with military backgrounds. With a distinguished career that began in the United States Coast Guard's Port Security Division, Ryder brings a wealth of experience in crisis management and public safety to his role. His participation in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm not only honed his leadership skills but also deepened his commitment to serving those who have served.

In his current position, Ryder is responsible for educating, investigating, and adjudicating student conduct issues, ensuring that policies and procedures are upheld while fostering a culture of respect and accountability. As a member of the Student Threat Assessment Team, he plays a critical role in identifying and mitigating potential risks to campus safety, drawing on his training in emergency management and public safety. Additionally, he oversees the Military Service Offices across two campuses, providing essential support and resources to military students and veterans navigating their educational journeys. His certification as a Department of Veterans Affairs School Certifying Official underscores his dedication to facilitating access to educational benefits for those who have served.
