John Dietz's education:John Dietz graduated from the University of Southern California with a BFA in Animation in 2006. He went on to attend the graduate program at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematography, majoring in Visual Effects. Dietz's graduate study led him to work as a Visual Effects Supervisor on films such as Cotton; The Help; The Brotherhood of Man; Chronicle; Chronicle II; and House on Haunted Hill.

After leaving Feng Shen Bang, John moved to Pixomondo where he worked on a range of Visual Effects work, including effects for Hollywood blockbusters such as Transformers and The Avengers. In October of 2012, John joined Sol Design FX as a Visual Effects Supervisor and Head of Production. At Sol Design FX, John worked on a range of projects such as video games, commercials, and television shows. In February of 2005, John announced his retirement from the Entertainment Industry and moved back to the United States to become a Technical Director at Cutters Studios. at Cutters Studios, John worked on a variety of projects, including The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. In October of 1995, John joined the University of Southern California less than a year after he graduated from USC. There he became a program graduate in Cinematography and creative writing. After graduating from USC, John worked as a Director of Photography at Rhythm & Hues Studios. At Rhythm & Hues Studios, John worked on a variety of projects, including the animation features The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
