Joel Block, an arts and sciences journalist and broadcaster, has a bachelor's degree in accounting from California State University, Northridge (1983). After one year of undergraduate coursework, he earned hisà${nowiki} Economics degree from University of California, Los Angeles (1980). In the meantime, he was a journalism student at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a masters degree in economics in 1981.Block has worked in a variety of capacities in media, including as an arts writer and broadcaster. He has worked as a news reporter for various stations, including KCBS-TV in Los Angeles, KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, KQED-TV in Santa Monica, and KGO-TV in Sacramento. Additionally, he has been a freelance writer and presenter since 1984.Block has been a teacher since 1984, first of arts and sciences students at University of California, Los Angeles and then of economics students at California State University, Northridge. From 1992 to 2002, he was an associate professor in the College of Business at California State University, Northridge.
