💼 Past Experience

Jo Avent's pedigree in technology and business experience is extensive. Jo has a background in technology and business from studying at Utrecht University, Netherlands. She started her career at IBM in 1995 as an entry-level business tech support specialist. She then moved to build a team of engineers that supported the company’s breakthrough technology investments, such as advanced intrusion detection and prevention, diverse operating systems and chat systems, and software development methodologies. Driven by her desire to help her customers succeed and her belief that technology can bring together disparate teams to create great products, Jo returned to IBM in 2007 as its Chief People Officer. In that role, she led IBM’s global People Operations and Deputy Chief Operating Officer ( deputy COO - cross-functionality, investor relations and pro bono services). Under her leadership, IBM eliminated redundancy andUPnP within its organization and drove performance improvement by linking people with the best technologies, processes and resources.In early 2017, Jo became a Co-Founder at TalentWall. As a part of the TalentWall team, she is responsible for driving equity and venture capital investitures, working with our rapidly growing goal corps, and growing the company’s ground floor operations. From January 2018 to June 2022, Jo was a technical recruiter at Udder, a company that helps talented people find jobs. She has experience working with various software development methodologies, including waterfall and agile development methodologies. As a result, Jo helped Udder streamline its hiring process, increasing the number of candidates it processed in a shorter time-frame.In her previous roles at IBM and ThoughtWorks, Jo project managed and oversaw a range of strategic and operational initiatives, notably in the areas of recruiting, teams, and technology investments. She is a skilled management consultant, and her experience in managing competitive teams andocaples will be of great value to TalentWall.

Jo Avent is from Manchester, England and educated at the University of Manchester. After graduating from the University of Manchester, Jo worked in information assurance and client relations at a technology company before starting her own business in 2006. She has since then created three successful businesses and is one of the founder members of The Start-Up Labs. In addition to her work in business, Jo is also an advocate for women in technology and a writer and speaker on various topics related to entrepreneurship.
