As the GIS Director at Mecklenburg County, Jia Wei brings a wealth of expertise and a strategic vision to the Geospatial Information Enterprise Service. With extensive experience in geographical information systems within the public agency and utility sectors, Jia is adept at navigating the complexities of GIS management, planning, and implementation. In this pivotal role, Jia oversees the daily operations of five technically diverse service divisions, ensuring that each unit—ranging from Technology Solutions to Custom Mapping and Analysis—operates seamlessly and effectively meets the needs of the community.

One of Jia’s key projects includes the coordination of the City/County Enterprise E911 Database, which plays a critical role in enhancing public safety through accurate and timely emergency response services. Additionally, Jia spearheads the Storm Water Enterprise Impervious Mapping Program, utilizing advanced spatial analysis techniques and remote sensing applications to support sustainable urban planning and environmental stewardship. With a strong foundation in tools such as ArcGIS, ArcInfo, and ESRI technologies, Jia excels in data conversion, technical documentation, and training, empowering team members and stakeholders alike.
