IT/Web Design Intern @ Level 3 Communications • Migrated internal website from poorly structured and cumbersome pages with stale data to new, ordered website with updated information and archived data from original website. From 2007 to 2007 (less than a year) Broomfield, COSoftware Engineer @ Oracle Joined a team responsible for the front end web development of an analytics platform. • Developed common and application-specific components using React to maintain a common look and feel across applications based on provided mock ups. • Customized an open source table component to provide functionality specific to the team’s needs while allowing it to be reused within the organization. • Improved user navigation by developing a navigation bar that changes based on the user’s screen size. • Developed a sticky donut chart using D3 to allow users to quickly see how actions they performed changed their anticipated outcome. • Conceptualized and developed a significant enhancement to a targeted advertising event query builder. As customers combined the characteristics they were looking for in their targeted advertising, a chart would update with the changes, including a history of changes, allowing the customer to see the changes in their estimated reach prior to saving the query. The history allowed the customer to see the impact of each change along the way and interact with the chart to go back to a previous selection if they did not like the result. From March 2016 to February 2017 (1 year) Greater Seattle AreaSoftware Engineer @ L-3 Communications Recruited to join a team responsible for development of web applications. The web applications provide inventory management, file storage and sharing solutions, communication for deficiencies, and license tracking. • Led development of brand new web applications as well as converted legacy Java applets to thin single-page applications, allowing users who were no longer able to access Java applets to resume work that relied on this system. • Eliminated needless interaction and confusion in an inventory program by converting poorly defined menus without context to an easier to track tree structure that was more intuitive and saved time. • Added new functionality for permissions management saving countless hours and key clicks. • Identified open and closed source software that could be used to decrease development time. Benefits ranged from saving licensing and development time to easier interaction through open source GUI tools. • Along with a senior developer, led the team in adopting a more agile approach to development. This saved in re-writes as the end product was much closer to user requirements through more frequent review. • Aided in the organization of development to streamline multiple developers to work on the same project by introducing coding phases and leading code reviews. This accelerated development and improved accuracies. • When brought into a situation with code that was pending release that did not meet requirements, provided immediate support as needed by modifying the software to meet requirements, enabling the company to properly track license usage which saved on renewals of unwanted/unneeded software. • Developed a single page application that displayed a list of items needing attention by the user attempting to view the application. It increased response time to those items by compiling the list in one easy to read location and prompting the user automatically when items needed attention rather than relying on user memory. From August 2012 to September 2015 (3 years 2 months) Greenville, TXSoftware Engineer Intern @ Level 3 Communications • Researched software packages for staff to use for SCRUM software development. Compared features and functionality and made recommendations. • Researched functionality and capabilities of programming languages such as Velocity in order to help software development teams pick suitable programming environments for their development efforts. • Designed and built test cases for software using Java, JDBC, and C# for software release process.
