Jan Manning's education has come in the form of a B.S. in Business Management/Computer Science from the University of Maryland University College. This foundation allowed Jan to pursue a career in computer science, which she has done through her undergraduate years at University of Maryland University College. Jan has also been self-taught in software development as well as other computer programming languages.Since leaving University of Maryland University College, Jan's work has mainly taken a detached form, with her preferring to attend to other tasks that need her focus. However, Jan is constantly on the lookout for new opportunities to get her feet wet in the software development field.With the grant that she has been offered, Jan is planning on starting a software development consultancy in the near future. This will be her first foray into the professional world and will be a means to give back to the community in which she has flourished as a stakeholder. She would like to see a landscape of innovative software development that is not only beneficial to her clients, but to the industry as a whole. In her 8 years with Gemalto, Jan Manning has lead various technical initiatives for the company, from developing infrastructure standards to eliminating inefficiencies across the company. Jan also has a background in operations and security, having served as CIO and CTO for a number of businesses. In her role as Corporate Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Gemalto, Janguided the development of corporate application and infrastructure standards, eliminated inefficiencies across the technology footprint, and developed and executed IS strategy and roadmap for security, infrastructure, and applications. Jan also manages Gemalto's global budget, negotiates with software vendors, and supports internal business units.
