Jamila Gerald is a dedicated advocate for equitable education and has spent nearly 15 years championing the rights and potential of minoritized students. As the Director of the Raising Educational Achievement Coalition of Harlem (REACH) at Teachers College, Columbia University, she plays a pivotal role in shaping educational experiences that empower students to overcome social and emotional barriers. In her current position, Jamila leads a dynamic team of professional staff and graduate students, fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes student success and community engagement.

Under her leadership, REACH has initiated several key projects aimed at enhancing educational outcomes in Harlem. Jamila works closely with school principals to define the scope of work tailored to each institution's unique needs, ensuring that interventions are both relevant and impactful.
