About James Witcombe
💼 Past Experience
The elevator ride up to the agency was short and sweet, thanks in part to the hordes of commuters who had to Commons to get to their jobs. Witcombe made his way through the herd, greeting everyone he passed. The agency was housed in a sleek, new building that looked almost too good for the city it was located in. Witcombe had been employed there for only a year, but he already had a good feel for the place. The employees, all of whom were awfully smart for their jobs, were an easy middle class to work for.The Candidate Coach was a Startup consultancy, which meant that Witcombe had never had to deal with candidates, but that didn't mean he was unfamiliar with their process. He had watched a few video lessons on the company's website before getting started on his current job.It wasn't long after his arrival that Witcombe met his new supervisor, the President of the agency. Witcombe had been briefings the President on the goings-on at the agency, so he had a good understanding of what was happening on the ground. The President listened attentively to Witcombe and acknowledged his compliments when he mentioned the qualities he was looking for in a candidate. Witcombe was flattered, and it was easy to see that he was someone the President wanted on his team.A few weeks passed and Witcombe had gotten to know his team a bit better. It was during one of these meetings that he realized that the President's vision for the agency wasn't completely based on what he thought the market might demand. The President had started to consider the sorts of employees that would be bothufficient and expensive to hire on short notice. Witcombe didn't like the sound of that at all.He rallied the team and argued that what the President was doing was counter to the qualities the President was looking for. The President was stillýhearýbut he didn't seem to have a lot of force behind him.Witcombe didn't like that either. He had started to feel like he was on the wrong side of a power struggle. He knew he was close to quitting, but he didn't know how to make his voice heard.
