Software Engineer @ Uber iOS Student @ Bloc, Inc. Took Bloc's fastest iOS Development bootcamp to solidify my Objective-C background with iOS frameworks. Spent 500+ hours since February building iOS apps and applying best practices. Experience with MapKit (AnnotationView, custom callouts), CoreLocation (region monitoring), UILocalNotification, and Firebase. From February 2016 to June 2016 (5 months) UX Designer @ Self-Employed I designed the product of PlayerPro, a social networking startup for athletes. I also designed the interaction of various ecommerce and professional sites. From August 2010 to May 2012 (1 year 10 months) iOS Software Engineer @ Walmart Global eCommerce After 4 months, launched the Walmart Scan & Go app as lead developer. It allows users in a store to scan items as they add to their basket. After their last item, they can pay, thus skipping the checkout line.Features include in-store detection, barcode scanning, weighable items input, cart transfer to self-checkout and service APIs (authentication, item lookup, cart calculation, payment, receipts). Also worked on the scanner framework to ensure a universal look-and-feel for all feature teams who use the scanner. From August 2016 to April 2019 (2 years 9 months) San Francisco Bay AreaTime Off @ Self-Employed I've pursued various technical and non-technical interests I put off when I had a full-time job. Non-technical interest include traveling, fire dancing, nutrition & fitness, caring for family, and recuperating from a back injury. I've also used this time to work on some personal tech projects. I designed and built a Mac note-taking tool that uses a timeline slider to track revisions. I also designed and built my website to archive my work in tech and to explore front-end languages. From June 2012 to February 2016 (3 years 9 months) Product Manager & UX Designer @ NASA Ames Research Center I worked on scheduling software used by astronauts, Mars rover scientists, and Space Station mission control. As a Product Manager, I oversaw the creation of two products, NEEMO and Bed Rest. NEEMO is an underwater mission that is NASA's closest analog to the Space Station and our tool was used to plan and track mission objectives for NEEMO 14. Bed Rest is an experiment dating back to the Apollo era of the 1960s simulating microgravity and our software was used to integrate science objectives of various principal investigators into an operational plan that was free of violations. As a UX Designer, I shaped many product features of Bed Rest and NEEMO. My designs have also been used on the Phoenix Lander mission, Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission. and Space Station mission control.Other contributions include reforming development process, prioritizing design and engineering resources, mentoring students, hiring, and organizing social events. From September 2006 to August 2010 (4 years) Engineer & Usability Analyst @ UC Berkeley I worked as an engineer and usability analyst on an open-source toolkit to allow developers to build tangible interfaces (applications using input such as computer vision, RFID, barcode). This work led to a CHI paper (15% acceptance). I also did some development for an open-source information visualization toolkit during this time as well.
