This lack of opportunities is nothing new for Henderson, as she herself has stated that since grade school she has been second best in her class. However, her educators at Colorado Boulder have taken a different approach.Since she first started her education, Henderson has faced a number of challenges that many students don't face. She is not nativeEnglish speaker, and therefore must communication with classmates and providers in her target language in order to interact effectively. Additionally, she has to overcome gaps in understanding and fluency in language which can lead to misunderstandings and disruptions in learning. All of these challenges have led her to be an excellent student and an even better journalist.However, her education also comes with a cost. As Henderson is not native English speaker and must communicate in a target language to attend classes, she must spend time preparing for lessons and gaining adequate knowledge in that language. This requires time and effort that Henderson does not have while other students are attending school without these same challenges.Lastly, despite her challenges, Henderson is an excellent student. She has consistently achieved good academic standings and has placed in top 10% of her peers in many subjects throughout her education. Her work readiness is also excellent, as she has worked as a freelance writer and editor for the past five years without any serious incidents. Henderson is confident and ready to take on any challenge that comes her way, and her education has provided her with the necessary tools to do so.
