About Harrison Minchew

📖 Summary

Software Architect @ Mad Mobile Project A:Environment - multi platform frontend: PWA Reactjs web application & Swift iOS, backend: Java 8, Apache Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure HDInsights.Project detail - Co-architecting & building a hybrid cloud service orchestration layer integrating with our Retail client’s existing store & corporate systems to provide an innovative and modern customer self-checkout experience, complemented with a retail associate facing application to simplify point of sale functions, checkout interventions, and customer interaction. These applications are backed by a multi-clustered Apache Kafka deployment with on-prem brokers at the store level replicating to Azure cloud with Kafka MirrorMaker. Kafka provides a durable log of key retail, transaction, and customer events for real time reporting & analytics. These event streams feed our Retail Management Portal providing business users with the insight and tools to determine business impact of store operation challenges and to react sameday with inventory or pricing adjustments. Our system is driven by an ESB configuration engine allowing connections to our client’s REST, messaging, and other web services. This loosely coupled architecture facilitates simple integrations to existing services without altering or disturbing the client’s present application environment. Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida AreaEngineering Lead @ Mad Mobile Project: ARole: Architect, Development LeadEnvironment: Java, Jetty, REST, Maven, AspectJ AOP, Reflection API, Google Guice DIProject Detail: Architected and built a mPOS (mobile point of sale) REST service layer integrating with Oracle Xstore & ORPOS Java point of sale systems. Using AspectJ and a service-based architecture our code runs alongside a register install leveraging key POS functions. These functions are exposed by a REST API to our mPOS client devices. The codebase is structured by a tiered Maven project. This assures a concrete REST contract across customer implementations, a shared Jetty server layer, common architecture and utilities. By extending the base service layer and using Guice’s dependency injection & service bindings, customer/ implementation specific code is abstracted from the core API resulting in excellent portability.Project: BRole: Architect, Development LeadEnvironment: React js, SCSS, iOS Swift, Apache Cordova, node/ jsProject Detail: Architected and built a platform agnostic React web framework used for mobile point of sale applications. The app’s screens, style, and layout are dynamically driven by JSON config. At runtime the app loads in the config which builds each screen’s jsx from React component names defined in the JSON module structure, the screen’s layout is driven by SCSS class names defined per module. The config is served over a web socket from a backed node js express server. This allows us to publish updates to the config instantly updating the user’s screen.Apache Cordova renders the web app on the device (iOS iPhone, iPad, Windows & Android tablets) in a native app. The Cordova layer pulls the bundled React js code from an S3 bucket at runtime, this allows us to perform over the air hotfixes and A-B testing. Cordova plugins provide a generic interface layer to access the device’s native functions and execute native code. We wrote plugins to interact with payment devices (PEDs) and infrared scanners. Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida AreaSolutions Architect @ Mad Mobile -- Works closely with the client’s tech team (and their vendors) ensuring proper integration with their environments and store systems, while managing our internal dev resources assigned to the project.-- Solutions the integrations for our mPOS service layer with the client’s store loyalty, CRM, and other corporate web services extending the features of the POS serving to a mobile form factor.
