I was fortunate enough to be provided with opportunities early on in my career that taught me about what motivates me the most. Just four weeks after starting a marketing internship at Destination XL Group, I was required to give a presentation to the CEO and senior management team. Four weeks in to my first corporate experience and I had to begin the process of taking over my supervisor’s role of Email Marketing Coordinator as he was leaving the company. While there was a steep learning curve, this opportunity allowed me to discover that I was incredibly motivated by making meaningful decisions and finding different ways to accomplish tasks. I was put into a position in which I had to find the best ways to handle my responsibilities and learn about the unique needs of a business. This passion for learning and desire to improve is reflected in some of the accomplishments I have achieved as an Email Marketing Coordinator over the past year and a half. For instance, I was able to identify a new market of customers for email segmentation that increased revenue by over $25,000 in one day. I also built all new segments to target via email from the ground up and created a behavior based email marketing strategy by using a self-created algorithm to identify the brand that a customer engages with the most. My role at DXL requires a high attention to detail as I oversee the deployment, deliverability, analytics, and strategy for email marketing. I have also completed projects for affiliate advertising and work closely with paid search marketing.
