SCLG 1002 "Introduction to Sociology" From January 2015 to Present (1 year) Sydney, AustraliaPhD Candidate/ Sociology & Social Policy @ PhD research project, titled “Coping with Post-Soviet Change: Achievement vs. Survival Life Strategies of post-Independence Ukrainian Migrants in Australia”, relies on qualitative data gathered from 51 semi-structured interviews conducted with migrants in NSW (Sydney & Wollongong). Particularly, the research analyzes the link between socio-economic transformations in post-independence Ukraine, shifts in Australian migration policy and the “rationale” behind the ‘waves’ of Ukrainian migration to Australia in two different periods (1991-2003 and 2004-2013). This study is expected to result in a collaborative research to the body of knowledge on the post-independence Ukrainian migration to Australia and contribute to development of social and migration policies of both countries.
