About Devon Onalty

As the Head Diving Coach at Fairfield University, I am deeply committed to cultivating an environment that not only nurtures athletic talent but also champions diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) within the sports community. My decade-long experience in DE&I, coupled with my previous role as Director of Diversity and Inclusion at NBCUniversal, informs my coaching philosophy and approach. I believe that every athlete, regardless of their background, should have the opportunity to excel and feel valued in their pursuit of excellence.

At Fairfield, I lead a comprehensive diving program that emphasizes both individual growth and team cohesion. My coaching strategy is akin to the natural rhythms of the ocean, where each athlete is guided through tailored training regimens that enhance their skills, confidence, and competitive edge. Key projects include the development of mentorship initiatives that connect seasoned divers with newcomers, fostering a sense of belonging and community. Additionally, I am actively involved in program review and restructuring, ensuring that our training methodologies are inclusive and effective, catering to the diverse needs of our student-athletes.
