From 2010 to Present (5 years) President & Regional Director @ Regional Director representing Pacific Region at the national level of the Ferrari Club of America. Former (2009) President and Chairman of the Board of 500-member FCA – Pacific Region.
Recognized by Ferrari S.p.A., Ferrari Club of America is the world’s largest Ferrari club, with some 5000 members across North America. Pacific Region is one of the largest and most influential regions within FCA. Members enjoy exciting track events, an internationally recognized concours d'elegance, and a wide variety of year-round driving and social activities.
As president, I directed and co-implemented a new concours d'elegance in Monterey, CA, where FCA members from around the country came to display and have their Ferraris competitively judged. This event was highly successful, and expanded in 2010. I also negotiated Pacific Region's participation in an internationally known Italian car show where, in the first year, 250 Ferraris were displayed. For 2010 this show increased to over 300 Ferraris, and Pacific Region's involvement extended to formal judging. I also directed and actively participated in the implementation of the region's website, which is one of the club's primary communication tools.
As Regional Director, I created "chapters" within the region so that members in Sacramento and Reno/Tahoe are better represented and receive greater value for their membership dollar. I also worked with other regions to implement a North America (US & Canada) Ferrari Rally in celebration of the club's 50th anniversary. From 2009 to 2012 (3 years) Director of Manufacturing Development, Business Processes & Quality Systems @ Director of fifty-person startup creating state-of-the-art Electroactive Polymer Artificial Muscle (EPAM) actuators for haptic applications.
Designed and implemented new factory, and co-managed move to new facility. Directed process development, and continual process improvement as designs evolved. Implemented key business processes including QC, EH&S, and a 12-turn inventory control system. Introduced automated inspection, and implemented Hazardous Material Business Plan. From 2007 to 2009 (2 years) General Manager, Chief Technical Officer @ Turned around this distressed contract manufacturing company serving the medical and aerospace communities. Oversaw all manufacturing-related operations. Installed a strong engineering support staff, and worked with customers and staff to enhance manufacturability, yield, delivery, and profitability. Fixed or terminated problem programs.
Successfully transferred Agilent linear accelerator line from client’s Colorado facility to Elcon. Worked with key suppliers and developed in-house manufacturing process to raise FTY from 30% to >80%. Successfully transferred product line to Taiwanese manufacturing arm.
Initiated successful implementations of ISO 9001:2000 and AS-9100 (aerospace) business systems, allowing Elcon to seek business opportunities in new markets. From 2006 to 2007 (1 year) Process Engineering Manager @ Directed the activities of scientists, engineers, technicians and consultants in support of facility-critical processes including ceramic metallization, cathode manufacture, and cleaning/plating.
Led effort to improve in-house manufacturing methods for metallization paints, and improve yield on critical brazed assemblies. Efforts included implementation of humidity-tolerant processes, refining parts cleaning and firing procedures, training on cleanliness and handling, materials sourcing, and implementing new test strategies. From 2005 to 2006 (1 year) Project Manager, Senior Solutions Analyst @ Project Manager and client consultant directing the activities of analysts, systems engineers, and field service engineers to develop Automated Identification Technology (AIT) and IT solutions for manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain business processes. Coordinated activities on multi-million dollar studies, pilots, and implementations for U.S. Army and NATO facilities in U.S., Asia, Europe, and Middle East.
Surveyed client facilities world-wide, and interviewed client employees at all levels. Resolved logistic, cost, and productivity issues by implementing technology and business process solutions, including Lean Manufacturing. From 2001 to December 2004 (3 years) Director, Business Processes and Quality Systems @ Director of QA/QC and Business Process Development for manufacturer of high-power microwave RF devices used in military, scientific, and medical applications.
Co-implementer of Baan ERP system - represented Manufacturing.
• Developed scripts, process flow charts and procedures.
• Created simulation tools used to model production routing.
Project Manager for a successful ISO 9001:2000 implementation.
• Facilitated or authored company’s Level 1&2 documentation.
• Lead auditor and trainer during 12 month implementation.
Conceived and developed the award-winning, cost-based supply chain management tool and Decision Support System (DSS) that managed supplier quality and delivery performance against goals.
• Saved over $15K in the first two months of operation.

• Supplier on-time delivery from 57% to 80% in 6 months. From 1997 to 2001 (4 years) Director of Engineering @ Director of Engineering for startup producing electron beam processing equipment. Typical applications included the metalized plastic film in juice squeeze boxes -- Stretching the film to achieve a specified thickness broke the cross-links in the plastic substrate, causing it to become brittle. E-beam processing reintroduced those cross-links so that the film was again tough and pliable.
I directed my engineers and technicians on the mechanical design and CAD documentation of linear electron guns and e-beam processors. I also directed the regulatory certification of finished machines, and the creation of operation manuals and other documentation. From 1996 to 1997 (1 year) Lead Engineer, Mechanical Engineer @ Lead Mechanical Engineer designing and manufacturing electron guns and electro-mechanical components for high-power microwave RF devices used in military, scientific, and medical applications.
