I have developed web applications for over 10 years, with my experience ranging from business process guidance systems (SupportPoint), property management systems (CBRE), investment & treasury systems (Suncorp), education systems (Queensland Government) and a global online newsroom (www.theglobalmail.org).
I develop frontends primarily in HTML 5, CSS 3, Javascript & jQuery, with a preference to Twitter Bootstrap, CoffeeScript, less.js & backbone.js. Much of my production code has been coupled with end to end (E2E) tests backed by Sauce Labs (Selenium WebDriver) or phantomjs. I have developed REST APIs and are familiar with many web APIs such as Facebook (Open Graph), SoundCloud, Twitter, Vimeo & YouTube.
I have developed backends in C# (ASP.NET MVC 4), Python (django), PHP or nodejs (express) that interface with persistent datastores such as MySQL, PostgreSQL & SQL Server, and in-memory datastores such as memcached & redis. I have also been performing a fair amount of devops work recently, implementing release management solutions using Amazon EC2, Rackspace, Atlassian Bamboo/Stash, Jenkins, monit, puppet, fabric & capistrano.
I'm highly disciplined in my approach to software development, utilising SCRUM principles to apply techniques like continuous delivery, sprint/product backlogs, iteration planning, standups, retrospectives, TDD, etc. into my workflow. I have generally used Atlassian JIRA & GreenHopper to achieve these best practices.
I have done a fair amount of UX work in the past, mocking up prototypes in Balsamiq Mockups to review with clients, and translating feedback into a Photoshop design and subsequently HTML & CSS. I'm familiar with the idiosyncrasies between popular web browsers such as IE 7+, Chrome, Firefox, iOS, Android, etc., and can develop websites to be compatible across all of them.
All in all, it gives me great satisfaction to build software that helps people become happier and more successful in their day-to-day life.Full Stack Engineer @ From January 2015 to Present (1 year) Frontend Engineer @ - Working on /browse From May 2013 to January 2015 (1 year 9 months) Senior Frontend Engineer @ - Evangelised and setup custom workflows for issue tracking (Atlassian JIRA), SCRUM project management (GreenHopper), continuous delivery for an enterprise SOA architecture (Bamboo), source control + code review processes through pull requests (Stash) & package management (NuGet & Maven) systems to modernize processes & improve productivity
