Product Design Manager @ From September 2015 to Present (2 months) Menlo ParkSenior Lecturer @ Teaching Innovation Studio in the Masters of Design Strategy graduate program. This unique program unites the perspectives of design and integrative thinking, sustainability and systems thinking, finance, entrepreneurship, and generative leadership into a holistic strategic framework. These themes run fluidly throughout the integrated curriculum and students develop deep, practical experience in managing today's interconnected markets and ecosystems. Students learn not only how to create innovative products, services, and policy, but also how to help organizations develop new business models for the future. From July 2015 to Present (4 months) San Francisco, CaliforniaCo-Founder & Head of Design @ Leading all design for a start-up funded to build consumer-grade augmented reality glasses. Liminal AR is a uniquely ambitious and design-driven product development effort. We are currently one of the few companies with a complete working prototype of AR glasses with inside-out tracking, real-time multiplayer 3D experiences and commercial quality transparent displays. Design work includes: - Product definition for developer & consumer releases, inc key use cases & signature experiences - Industrial design, mech engineering & ergonomics work for multiple generations of prototypes - Interaction design for physical interfaces, inc. integration to both electronics & 3D game engines - UI design for personal heads-up display system & multi-person 3D interactive content system - Visual design for brand, UI assets, advertising concepts & interaction story-boards - 3D modelling, animating, lighting & effects for interactive content - Rapid prototyping of experiences for VR, AR & Stereoscopic Video - Experience design for complete custom user test environment - Building tool-chain & dev process with engineering for end-to-end HW & SW stack From February 2015 to September 2015 (8 months) San Francisco Bay AreaDesign Director and Head of Studio @ Drove design of a new product family for HERE. Led hero product UX from concepting through to execution for shipping. Developed complete system around a connected single-purpose device, with custom UI and novel physical interaction model. Created supporting iOS app, web front-end, cloud services, and a custom map layer. Managed ten designers, and worked daily with Directors of Product and Engineering to implement design vision. From January 2013 to February 2015 (2 years 2 months) SunnyvaleCreative Lead and Head of Studio @ Built a new design studio, with design disciplines including ID, UI, Interaction Design, Visual Design and Design Research. Led eight designers to create a new portfolio of products based on next generation technologies including near eye displays, sensor arrays, flexible LEDs and novel materials. Worked with Engineering teams to build functional prototypes. From October 2011 to January 2013 (1 year 4 months) SunnyvaleHead of Design Evaluation @ Developed industry-leading UX Competitive Evaluation Program. Using innovative heuristics and scoring system, conducted over forty detailed UX reviews of Nokia and competitor products.
