Charlie Mooney serves as the Head of Upper School at Valor Preparatory Academy, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of students from grades 9 through 12. With a deep commitment to classical Christian education, Charlie’s primary focus is on the holistic formation of both students and teachers. He believes that by nurturing and empowering educators, they in turn can inspire and cultivate a love of learning in their students. His leadership is characterized by a collaborative approach, fostering Professional Learning Communities that encourage teachers to share best practices and engage in meaningful dialogue about curriculum development and pedagogy.

Under Charlie's guidance, Valor Preparatory Academy has embarked on several key projects aimed at enhancing the academic experience. One such initiative includes the integration of a robust curriculum that emphasizes history and philosophy, aligning with the school’s classical roots while preparing students for higher education. Additionally, Charlie has been instrumental in leading the accreditation self-study preparation for both WASC and ACSI, ensuring that the school meets the highest standards of academic excellence and institutional integrity.

With over two decades of experience in academic administration, Charlie’s expertise extends to editing and developing educational materials that resonate with the school’s mission. His passion for teaching and commitment to lifelong learning is evident in his interactions with both faculty and students. Outside of his professional life, Charlie cherishes his role as a husband and father to four children, which further enriches his understanding of the educational landscape and the importance of a supportive community in nurturing young minds.
