VP and Head of Communications, Alcon @ Bettina Maunz is Vice President, Global Head of Communications and Corporate Giving for Alcon, global leader in eye care with sales of USD 10.8 billion in 2014 and 25,000 associates. She is a member of the Alcon Executive Leadership Team, based in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. Bettina built and leads a global team of over 30 Communications, PR and Corporate Giving professionals, partnering with Alcon business leaders and their teams on global and regional level to drive business success and shape the Alcon culture. She is also President of the Alcon Foundation which partners with leading NGOs to enhance access to eye care where it is most needed, foster education and skills transfer, engage with local communities and enhance employee engagement. From April 2011 to Present (4 years 9 months) VP and Global Head of Communications, CIBA VISION @ Bettina joined CIBA VISION, a business unit of Novartis Consumer Health, in August 2008 to build the Global Communications function. She was a member of the CIBA VISION Leadership Team, reporting to the Head of CIBA VISION, one of the leading contact lens manufacturers with 6,000 associates and sales of USD 2 billion in 2010. She formed a team of nine highly skilled communications and PR professionals, complemented by a network of external PR resources and agencies. Bettina and her team were able to build significant credibility and value for the Global Communications function as a strategic business partner in a short period of time. From July 2008 to April 2011 (2 years 10 months) Head of Communications, Global Functions, Novartis Pharma @ As Head of Communications Global Functions, Bettina contributed to the Pharma business success by developing and implementing an integrated internal communications strategy across Novartis’ largest division, overseeing all Pharma internal news flow and communications channels. Her main responsibilities were to counsel Senior Executives on employee communications develop and drive communication strategies on behalf of the Pharma Head and manage a team of 10 communicators across global functions to ensure alignment with Pharma priorities. In 2008, the Pharma division accounted for more than USD 24 billion in annual sales, with over 60,000 employees. From April 2005 to July 2008 (3 years 4 months) Basel Area, SwitzerlandDirector Global Product PR Neuroscience, Novartis Pharma @ Bettina was responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of PR campaigns for the Neuroscience Business Franchise with sales of over USD 2.5 billion in 2006. From October 2003 to March 2006 (2 years 6 months) Basel Area, SwitzerlandDirector, Marketing Communications, Serono International @ As Corporate Director of Marketing Communications at Serono International, reporting to the Corporate Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Bettina successfully built the Marketing Communications function and headed up a team of six professionals, creating, and implementing communications programs for several therapeutic areas, such as multiple sclerosis, infertility, growth hormone deficiencies.
