He's now a research associate at the University of Massachuetts, working on wind energy and environmental issues. Blocken's long journey to this point began back in 1991, when he first landed a job as a Junior Engineer at the Belgian engineering firm of Begaar. There, he worked on projects that focused on dam construction and water Molecules.It wasn't until Blocken moved to the Netherlands in 2000, that he finally got his hands on a real wind turbine project. He worked on design, construction, and commissioning for a small wind farm in the Netherlands.One of the things that Blocken's experience at Begaar taught him was that He could never become a true wind turbine expert overnight. It was the hard work and diligence that he put into his projects that eventually made him successful.After several years of research and development at the Belgian wind turbine firm Fleischer, Blocken moved to KU Leuven in 2006. Here, he founded a wind turbine firm of his own and began working on projects that focused on wind energy and environment.One of the things that Blocken's experience at KU Leuven taught him was that He could never become a true wind turbine expert overnight. It was the hard work and diligence that he put into his projects that finally made him successful.Thanks to his research and experience in wind turbine engineering, Blocken has an insiders knowledge of the technology that makes wind turbines work. He's also used his knowledge to help develop the wind turbine design for energy storage systems, electric vehicles, and more.Blocken likes to stay up to date on the latest wind turbines and energy storage technology, and he's also an expert inCFD.
