About Barbara Demorest

Barbara Demorest is a dedicated leader and advocate in the nonprofit sector, currently serving as the President and Founder of the Knitted Knockers Support Foundation. With over 30 years of experience as a CPA, Barbara brings a wealth of financial expertise to her role, ensuring that the organization operates efficiently and effectively. Her journey into nonprofit leadership began after her own battle with breast cancer in 2011, which inspired her to create a supportive community for women undergoing similar experiences.

Under Barbara's guidance, Knitted Knockers has flourished, connecting volunteer knitters with breast cancer survivors to provide free, handmade knitted prostheses. This initiative not only offers a comfortable and personalized alternative to traditional breast prosthetics but also fosters a sense of community and empowerment among women navigating their cancer journeys. Barbara’s commitment to organizational development and non-profit administration has been instrumental in expanding the foundation’s reach, allowing it to serve an ever-growing number of women across the country.

In addition to her leadership role, Barbara leverages her expertise in federal income tax and automotive accounting to ensure the foundation remains financially sound and compliant with all regulatory requirements. Her unique blend of skills in tax preparation and non-profit leadership positions her as a valuable resource in the industry, making her a sought-after speaker and mentor for those interested in nonprofit management. Through her work, Barbara Demorest continues to make a profound impact on the lives of breast cancer survivors, providing them with not just physical support, but also a compassionate community.
