Background:Born in 1950, Bjarier has lived most of her life in the United States. She began her professional life in the private sector, working as a political advisor to U.S. House of Representatives and campaign manager for U.S. Senate campaigns. In the early 1990s, she moved to the political consulting industry, working as a political advisor to various insurance companies. From there, she moved to the role of Chief of Staff for the U.S. House of Representatives. In this position, she helped to guide the U.S. House of Representatives through its myriad legislative bindings, most notably the Startling Provision and the Energy Reform Act of 1997.After the U.S. House of Representatives disbanded in 2001, Berger moved to the role of political advisor to the U.S. Senate. There, she helped oversee the Senate's egregious ethics scandals and also worked to develop legislation related to information technology and the banking sector.In 2007, Berger joined the management team of America's Community Bankers (ACB), where she served as the President & CEO. At ACB, she directed the bank's government relations efforts and concurrently played a lead role in developing the company's strategic planning and strategy. In this role, Berger helped to advocate for stronger financial regulation, better access to banking products and services, and more competitive dialogue between the bank and its clients.In 2009, Berger left ACB to become the Chief of Staff for the U.S. House of Representatives. Here, she helped to guide the House of Representatives through its myriad legislative bindings, most notably the Stop Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009.During her time with the House of Representatives, Berger also developed various political relationships. She was notably able to develop links with key members of the House Republican leadership, and she was also prominently involved in the development of House Republican Party policies.In recent years, Berger has begun to focus her attention on the private sector. She is currently a Director of Government Relations at Various insurance Cos., Farm Bureau, Assoc of Realtors, eCapital Group. In this role, she provides clients with political, lobbying and speechwriting assistance on a wide range of policy topics. She also works to help clients Blossom and Grow, an grassroots organization that promotes pro-active financial regulation.Throughout her professional life, Berger has been extremely active in the community. She has been a board member of many organizations, including TheNational Women's Law Center, the National Committee for Children & Families, and the Hispanic PAC. She has also given numerous speeches on a variety of issues, most notably on financial regulation and financial inclusion.B.
