I specialize in building native mobile apps from the ground up. As a sole developer, I've taken 8 apps (7 Android, 1 iOS) from concept to the App Store and Google Play. I've also contributed to several other apps on both platforms, both individually and as a member of a team. I'm proud to have been the first mobile hire at two venture-funded, TechStars companies. While I primarily focus on Android, I'm comfortable with both iOS and backend development as well.

Working on the Ecovent native mobile apps which will allow users to control rooms for each room in their houses. From January 2015 to Present (10 months) Boston, MAMobile Software Developer @ Led development and product management of the CoachUp mobile apps, which help athletes find private coaches and enable coaches to manage their business from their phones. At the time of my departure, the mobile apps were directly responsible for more than $40,000 in monthly revenue.
Sole developer for the CoachUp Android app, having built it from the ground up to Google Play in 3 months. Also contributed several new features and bug fixes to the iOS app.
Built several components of Ruby on Rails backend. Two examples of mobile-first features where I created the entire backend API component include bounding-box search using Google Maps and uploading coach profile photos and action shots from the on-device camera. From June 2013 to January 2015 (1 year 8 months) Boston, MASenior Software Developer @ Rue La La Android app: Rewrote the entire Android app for version 2.0, which earned a 4.7/5.0 version rating on Google Play. Improved data management, updated API handling, and adopted modern Android design conventions. Integrated Google Wallet Instant Buy. Created development project plan.
Bloomingdale's @ 59th & Lex Android app: Created data management and layout for list-based sections of the app. Integrated various WebViews, including support for HTML5 video. This app was designed to accompany the annual Bloomingdale's holiday window displays and is no longer publicly available.
Macy's Android app (Herald Square enhanced experience): Implemented Express Pass and contributed to events listing, store locator, and integrating Meridian in-store turn-by-turn navigation.
plannedUp iOS app: Created splash screen and first-time user walkthrough.
Made minor contributions to Fancred iOS app, Rue La La iOS app, and AppBlade SDK. From October 2012 to June 2013 (9 months) Boston, MAFounder, Android Developer @ Sole developer of four Android apps, which have combined for over 25,000 downloads from the Google Play Store. Active development ended in December 2012, but I continue to maintain the apps whenever critical issues come up. From April 2011 to December 2012 (1 year 9 months) Member of Technical Staff @ Developed software in C++, Tcl, and XML to enhance user interface and results handling for the Trident missile guidance system's test station. Used object-oriented design to reduce the size of an inherited Java project by 20% with no loss in functionality. Wrote users' manual and collaborated on several technical documents.

Wrote embedded test software in C for the Trident missile guidance system that measures if any data was lost while the guidance system was recovering from a power interruption.
