psons is a startup that provides a platform and tools to help companies automate their process of product launches. They offer a launch automation tool that is different from anything else on the market, and Alan Zhou was one of the team members who first got a taste of it.Zhou spent most of his last year at Okta as a software engineer, working on a initiative calledctxserver. ctxserver was the first major effort we undertook at Okta in response to the growing trend of moving to the Cloud, and it was a huge success. We migrated the entire properties configuration model to Spring cloud config server, and we writing terraform to create the AWS resources. Additionally, we migrated all configuration properties from the old chef model to Spring config profiles. We then rolled out Spring config server to the testing, preview, and production environments, and we Dockerized and migrated the org creation service to ECS in preview and production environments. Finally, we created a deep healthcheck framework that verifies essential states of underlying services upon startup.Overall, Okta was a great experience and we would definitely recommend it to other companies. Okta is an amazing company with world-class resources, and they never stop giving back to their employees.
