Prior to his current position as Chief Engineer: Mars 2020 Project at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Adam Steltzner was an author at Penguin Random House from January 2013 to July 2015. He was also a JPL Fellow at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory from January 2013 to July 2015.In his role as Chief Engineer: Mars 2020 Project at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Adam Steltzner is responsible for developing the California Methane Mission (CMM) spacecraft and its associated science instruments. The CMM are designed to study the Martian atmosphere and atmosphere-bearing objects, including drums of Methane that have been transported to the Martian surface by erosional processes. The instruments aboard the CMM will also help learn about the Martian landscape and climate, and contribute to the understanding of the Martian environment and potential for human habitation.Adam Steltzner has received numerous awards from his peers, including the Association of American Scientists' Outstanding Achievement Award in Aerospace Engineering in 2013, two prestigious NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Awards, and the Jesup-Brownlow Award from the Planetary Society. He is also the recipient of the IEEE Corporation'sEdward R. Murrow Award for Outstanding Achievement in Space Engineering in 2016.

Adam Steltzner's education came in many different forms.primarily engineering mechanics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison andCaltech. After completing his education at these institutions, he worked as an engineer for a number of years. When he decided to focus his career in education, he first met the needs of students with engineering backgrounds by working as an instructor at the University of California, Davis. There, he taught students about engineering mechanics and also developed and taught courses in graduated engineering programs.While serving as an instructor and also continuing to work as an engineer, Adam also became interested in the field of education. He decided to pursue a career in education because he saw it as a way to help students achieve their goals. He is now an instructor and also the director of energy engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to teaching students about engineering mechanics, graduate engineering programs, and energy engineering.Adam Steltzner's educational background and work readiness have made him an ideal teacher and advisor for students with engineering backgrounds. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience that he is able to share with his students. He also has a passion for teaching and helping students achieve their goals.
